I think the argument against bananas as paleo is ridiculous but I do think bananas need moderation.

The biggest argument I see against paleo bananas is that many of our ancestors would not have had access to them in the wild. That, though, isn't really a valid argument against this tasty treat.

The paleo diet can't look at foods in isolation. We can't look at a banana or apple and say yes or no. You need to look at the diet of a group as a whole.

For example, tropical fruits in general are higher carb than fruits found further from the equator. But what about the rest of the food supply? I'm not entirely sure, but I don't believe that there are large sources of fat and animal protein on most tropical islands. Yeah, a few boar here and there I reckon, but mostly won't it be smaller, very lean animals such as rodents and fowl? In that case, the higher carbs of the local fruits would make up for the lower fat content in the diet... otherwise you're looking at rabbit starvation.

In cooler climates, the animals get larger and fatter while the fruits get smaller and less sweet. What do you get nearer the poles? A lot of snow and one big ass whale loaded down with fat!!!

My $0.02. :)

Isn't the Banana's status of paleo up for debate? Haha.

I fully intend to do extensive testing of this recipe on myself to make sure you're not trying to poison innocent people with another Western Diet ingredient in disguise :)

We made this tonight. I thought it was pretty good even though the bananas were not fully frozen. The kids, though, kept me from having more than a few spoonfuls before they took the bowl from me. :)
