Quality versus Quantity. For the most part, with the Paleo/Primal way of eating, I have not needed to worry about how much I’m eating so long as I’m eating clean, natural foods. Eating real food, I’m just not as hungry as when I was eating the non-foods of the SAD (Standard American Diet). However, as I grow as an athlete, I am becoming more and more concerned about quantity… but not as a typical dieter wondering “am I eating too much?” My concern is with getting in enough calories and protein to support my training load.

With that in mind, I made this macronutrient calculator that takes as input my body weight and protein requirements (the two green fields), and my desired nutrient ratios (the yellow fields) and spits out my total calorie requirement as well as a breakdown of calories by macronutrient.
